Why Weight Loss Bores Me!
I’m just going to put it out there, if I’m being completely transparent, I just am NOT a fan of measuring your goal or success by how much you weight. Nope, nada, no.
Why? Well, I’ve never seen numbers be all that accurate. Nor do I think weight should be the ultimate health marker. I weigh 155 pounds! Holy moly! That seems like a lot. In fact, according to the height to weight ratio, I would be borderline overweight. Seems inaccurate given I am 12 percent body fat, don’tcha think? My fiance actually is borderline obese given his weight to height ratio. His body fat percentage, most likely even lower than mine.
What I’m trying to get at here is that we’ve been told for centuries that we need to pay attention to our weight. And yes, sometimes this is the case but for most of my clients and most of them are just like you, it’s far from the case.
I think a much better way to approach any health goals is to redefine your success markers. Because if I were to say I want to be 135 pounds, I would have to drop so much muscle and that is most definitely not something that is healthy for me.
So, instead of using weight as a success marker, I challenge you to think outside the box. What are other ways you can measure how your progress is going? Some of my favorites include:
- Improvements with sleep
- Less or complete elimination of bloating
- Improved skin
- Better energy
- Less mood swings
- Overall happier
- Less cravings; especially for sugar
- Less brain fog and more mental clarity
- Energy upon waking
- How clothes are fitting
- Better stress management
Just to name a few.
After making this list and revisiting it often, I think you’ll find it makes for a much more enjoyable journey with many success markers along the way.
